Production Designer & Art Director
Cass Surina Austin is a Madison, Wisconsin-based Production Designer and Art Director. She currently serves as Lead Product Art Director for Shopbop, a global online fashion retailer. Here, she leverages her over 15 years of film & commercial industry experience to create best-in-class imagery and develop new talent.
Before moving her career to the Midwest, Austin built a dynamic career in Vancouver, British Columbia and Los Angeles. Her work spans feature films, commercials, music videos, and immersive events. Whether on set for a commercial or on a feature film, though, she seeks to build unique spaces for each project. With a keen eye for possibility and a renowned talent for teamwork, Austin has been lauded for both her set design and her leadership.
Her portfolio includes music video Production Design for projects with Red Hot Chili Peppers, SZA, Victoria Monet, Lil Baby, SiR, and Apple Music. She has production designed commercials for brands including Honda, Dannon Yogurt, and Apothic Wine, to name a few, and her immersive event production work features partnerships with L.A. Football Club, Vans, New Balance, and Adidas.
Austin has been nominated for numerous MTV VMAS for her work on SZA's, Good Days, directed by Solána and Red Hot Chili Peppers', Tippa My Tongue, directed by Malia James.
When she's not on set, Austin is cooking or developing her own film. She can often be found doing both in the north woods of Wisconsin, where she also swims in the crisp channels of the chain of lakes and hikes among ancient trees.
